ACCA calls for "pragmatic and proportionate" UK sustainability reporting rules

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) has responded to the UK Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) proposal to introduce mandatory reporting under the ISSB-aligned UK Sustainability Reporting Standards (UK SRS) for listed companies.

While supporting the ambition of eventually establishing full mandatory UK SRS disclosures, the ACCA said a “pragmatic and proportionate approach” is crucial for successfully implementing the standards. It highlighted the increased granularity of reporting compared with the existing TCFD requirements.

Glenn Collin, head of technical and strategic engagement, stated: “It is therefore important that the FCA continues to consider market readiness, both in terms of capabilities and data availability, particularly for smaller or less mature preparers within the in-scope population.”
