The California Air Resources Board (CARB) will update the public on its GHG emissions disclosure rulemaking at a virtual workshop on 23 March.
CARB is tasked with establishing regulations to implement a mandatory emissions disclosure regime under the Corporate Climate Data Accountability Act (SB 253).
Last month, it approved a regulation to define the scope of the legislation, set a deadline for reporting direct emissions in the first year, and establish a fee structure.
At the workshop later this month, the staff will provide additional information on the deadline for reporting Scope 1 and 2 emissions. In addition, they will provide their preliminary opinion on establishing a regulation for Scope 3 emissions disclosures.
