Carbon Measures finalises Technical Expert Panel appointments

Carbon Measures has appointed 11 members to its Technical Expert Panel (TEP) on Carbon Accounting, adding to the 10 members that were appointed in January.

The final 21-member panel will develop a new international carbon emissions accounting framework. It is expected to deliver a report on the current carbon accounting landscape by the end of the summer, and will hold its first meeting next month.

The selection process was led by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). Shortlisted candidates were reviewed by Carbon Measures co-chairs Amy Brachio and Karthik Ramanna, and the two organisations jointly approved the final TEP composition.

Carbon Measures CEO Amy Brachio stated: “From academics and researchers who have spent careers studying these systems, corporate practitioners who operate within them every day, and to investors who depend on accurate data to make consequential decisions. That combination reflects our conviction that getting carbon accounting right is, fundamentally, a collective project.”

Andrew Wilson, ICC Deputy Secretary-General, said the completion of the TEP “marks a significant milestone in advancing a ledger-based carbon accounting framework”.

“The final panel brings together a highly complementary mix of global expertise across academia, policy, finance and industry, whose experience will help shape a coherent and practical approach to carbon accounting that enables markets to function more efficiently and accelerate decarbonisation,” he added.
