GRI has launched a programme to strengthen sustainability reporting practices amongst Vietnamese companies.
Over the coming year, it will engage with business associations, companies and other stakeholders through a series of forums and events. Its key aims are to strengthen policy engagement and improve the collection and use of sustainability data.
Alongside Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance, GRI is developing a targeted programme to equip SMEs with practical sustainability reporting tools and guidance.
Bao Nguyen, GRI country manager for Vietnam, will lead the initiatives, having managed the standard-setter's previous programmes in the country.
He stated: “Vietnam is playing an increasingly important role in global value chains, creating both challenges and opportunities for companies – especially SMEs, which form the backbone of the economy. Demand for credible sustainability reporting is rising from both global stakeholders and domestic regulators.”
