The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) has issued a study on how professional accountants use generative AI.
Of the 200 accountants surveyed, 53% use the technology to write emails and edit text, 46% use it to summarise meetings and documents, and a third use it to support data inputs and software-based tasks.
While 74% respondents said the technology speeds up their day-to-day tasks, only 22% said this resulted in a substantial increase in their overall work rate.
Notably 72% raised concerns that generative AI can produce errors or incorrect decisions and 52% cited concerns over data privacy and confidentiality.
