Demetrios Logothetis has been sworn is as chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), following his appointment by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on 30 January.
He stated: “Independent oversight of auditors is a critical pillar of the investor confidence that powers the US capital markets, and I look forward to partnering with the SEC, my fellow Board Members, and the PCAOB’s dedicated staff to fulfil our organisation’s statutory responsibilities efficiently and effectively.”
Logothetis has previously chaired the audit committee at the Republic Bank of Chicago, held various leadership roles at EY, and served as a senior advisor in the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
His term as PCAOB chairman will run until October 2030.
Mark Calabria and Steven Laughton have also been sworn is as new PCAOB board members, after being appointed by the SEC.
Calabria’s term will run until October 2027, and Laughton’s term will end in October 2026.
