Melanie Proffitt has been elected as president of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Having joined the ACCA Council ten years ago, Proffitt has served as vice president and deputy president of the organisation. She will step down from her role as CFO of Farncombe Estate.
She said in a statement: “From our newly redesigned qualification, to working with underrepresented communities and individuals, we are committed to showing how accountancy is a career that is fulfilling, dynamic and full of exciting opportunities.”
Proffitt takes over in the role role from Ayla Majid, CEO at Planetive Middle East and Planetive Pakistan.
Datuk Zaiton Mohd Hassan, CEO of the Malaysia Professional Accountancy Centre has been elected as deputy president. Cristina Gutu, director at KPMG Romania & Moldova, has been elected as vice-president.
