A coalition of eight NGOs – including ClientEarth, Global Witness and the European Coalition for Corporate Justice – have filed a formal complaint with the European Ombudsman over the European Commission’s omnibus proposal to simplify the requirements of the CSRD, CSDDD and EU Taxonomy Regulation.
The NGOs have accused the Commission of failing to gather evident on the impacts of amending the laws, “sidestepping broad consultations to favour closed-door meetings”, and failing to assess whether the proposal align with the EU’s climate targets.
