Almost every company that has issued a CSRD report this year disclosed material impacts, risks or opportunities (IROs) on climate change, their workforce and workers in their value chains. However, the rate of disclosure on the other topical ESRS varied between industries, according to a PwC analysis of 250 reports.
For example, the analysis found that most (55%) companies in the energy, resources and utilities industry disclosed information on consumers and end users, but less than half of the companies in every other sector identified IROs in this standard (ESRS S4) as material.
The topical standard with the greatest discrepancy in the rate of disclosures was ESRS E3 (Water and marine resources). Only 3% technology, media and telecoms companies and 11% financial services companies disclosed IROs on this topic, compared with 77% health industry companies and 62% energy, resources and utilities companies.
