The Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has announced that it has validated 10,000 companies’ targets on climate change.
These 10,000 companies represent over 40% global market capitalisation and are headquartered in over 90 countries. In the last year, SBTi has validated 2,800 new companies’ targets.
David Kennedy, CEO at the SBTi, said: “Companies are setting science-based targets because they recognize the strategic, reputational, and financial benefits of net-zero business transformation. This milestone reflects a growing commitment by companies to set credible, accountable targets, and we look forward to supporting many more as this transition continues.”
