TISFD issues discussion paper on conceptual foundations

The Taskforce on Inequality and Social-related Financial Disclosures (TISFD) has released a discussions paper on the conceptual foundations that will underpin its future disclosure framework.

TISFD co-chair Sharan Burrow stated: “[The] Conceptual Foundations, once finalised, will bring much needed clarity and coherence to how social and inequality related issues are understood and addressed. They should lay the foundations for a disclosure framework that will bring social and inequality issues to the heart of financial and business decision-making.”

The discussion paper provides potential definitions of key stakeholders and draft definitions of concepts for understanding social issues and inequalities.

It also outlines draft concepts for assessing and reporting on dependencies, entity-level risks and opportunities, impacts, and system-level risks.

Stakeholders can provide input on the discussion paper through a series of outreach events over the next two months.

Once finalised, the conceptual foundations will provide the basis for the development of the TISFD disclosure recommendations, with the beta version expected to be issued in Spring 2026.
