MEP Jörgen Warborn has responded to a complaint filed by civil society organisations with the EU Parliament Advisory Committee, alleging that there is a potential conflict-of-interest over his roles as shadow rapporteur on the Omnibus I directive and president of lobby group SME Europe.
At a press conference in Strasbourg this week (16 December), he said: “I'm quite surprised. I don't see that there is a conflict of interest at all.”
“I've been transparent with the engagements that I have had, they are registered and everyone can see them on the Parliament web page,” he added. “I think it is a politically motivated accusation. The organisations behind this are probably not happy with the outcome and that's why they try to influence the vote at the on the last day.”
Warborn concluded: “I'm looking forward for the Advisory Committee to have a look at this case. It will be good when they come with their decision.”
